What it does

Chatbots write tables in markdown: plain text with a vertical bar between cells and a row of dashes under the header. Spreadsheets do not understand that format, so pasting a copied table into Excel or Google Sheets usually puts each whole line into a single cell in the first column.

AI Table to Excel & Google Sheets finds every table in the reply, lets you pick one, and copies it in the two formats spreadsheets do understand: a real table, which also carries cells with more than one line, and tab-separated text. Paste into any cell and the rows and columns land where they should. Bold markers, backticks and other formatting symbols are removed from the cells, and links keep their address in brackets. You can also download the table as a CSV file.

Spreadsheets also like to change values as you paste: 1/2 becomes a date, 007 loses its zeros, a long order number turns into 1.23E+17 and a cell that starts with = runs as a formula. The Keep values exactly as shown option protects only the cells Excel would change and leaves ordinary numbers as numbers, so totals still add up. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you paste is uploaded or stored.

How to use it

1. Copy a reply that contains a table from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or another chatbot, using the copy button or by selecting the table in the chat.
2. Paste it into the box. If the reply has more than one table, choose the one you want.
3. Turn on Keep values exactly as shown if the table has codes, fractions or long numbers that must not change.
4. Press Copy for Excel & Sheets and paste into a cell, or press Download CSV to save a file.

Why does a pasted ChatGPT table end up in one column?

The chatbot's copy button gives you the table as markdown, a text format where cells are separated by vertical bars. Excel and Google Sheets only split pasted text into columns when the cells are separated by tabs, or when the clipboard carries a real table. This tool converts the markdown table into both, so the spreadsheet can place each cell correctly.

What if the reply has more than one table?

Every table in the reply is detected and listed by its header row. The first one is selected by default; pick another from the list and the preview, copy and download all switch to it.

How do I stop Excel changing 007 to 7 or 1/2 to a date?

Turn on Keep values exactly as shown before copying. It protects only the cells desktop Excel would change, such as codes with leading zeros, fractions and dates, and numbers longer than 11 digits, and leaves ordinary numbers as numbers so SUM still works; decimals like 12.50 stay numbers and keep their zeros. It works when you copy and paste. The CSV download cannot protect values, because a CSV file has no way to mark a cell as text.

Should I copy or download a CSV?

Copying is quickest and keeps cells that contain more than one line. The CSV download is useful for importing or keeping a file; it is saved as UTF-8 with a byte order mark so Excel shows accented and non-Latin characters correctly, and values with commas or quotes are quoted so columns stay aligned.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The table is read and converted entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is stored, and there is no account.
